The first steps - making up our minds...

Many of our fellow camper fans already own a truck or know their favorite vehicle to put the camper on. However, often it is a back an forth between different priorities. Do I want the smallest practical solution to access even the toughest trails into the most remote parts of nature? Or do I prefer the comfort of space of a larger cab? Obviously, size also does come with a price tag. But once the vehicle decision is made, the fun part of designing the cab can begin...

For our show vehicle we decided on a F150 XLT 4x4 3.5ltr Ecoboost, SuperCrew with standard bed (6.5ft). It is a very powerful truck that allows us to comfortably tour the country for the various shows we intend to visit. The standard bed gives us the possibility to show many of the cool features and options of the GEO-cab.

Sizing the Carbon-Fiber shell

Design esthetics is a key aspect in the customization of our cabs. With initial renderings we check the proportions of the alcove, the overhang and make sure that the cab width works with the given tire track width. In our case, we want to achieve a rather wide, roomy cab, measuring 220cm (86.6in) on the outside. The stock configuration of this F150 has a 67.6in track width front and back. The upgrade to 295/70R18 tires in combination with a moderate lift, new rims with a wheel off-set of +12 mm (stock +44) results in 81.7in width from outside tire wall to outside tire wall. Adding a 1.5in wheel spacer in the rear would position the tires perfectly in the wheel housing of the GEO-cab.
With this we can move on to the exterior design details and interior layout. However, there is one key question left...

Removable or not removable - that is the question...

We want to hear from you: what shall your dream camper configuration look like? - Please click on our FEEDBACK menu to provide us with your input.
- GEO-cab fixed on the chassis?
Pros: easier and less costly integration on base vehicle, pass through option to the driver cab, improved storage capabilities
Cons: base vehicle can no longer be used as a pick up truck
- GEO-cab removable from base vehicle?
This configuration would come with a custom flat bed, seamlessly integrated.
If removable, do you only want to be able to store the camper cab at home, or do you want to be able to remove it during your camping trips?
